Application process

• Review the sponsorship criteria and determine if you are eligible for sponsorship.  If you have any questions regarding the criteria and application process please do not hesitate to contact the Walking Unit.
  
  
• Download and complete the Walk There Today Sponsorship Application Form (MS Word 134kb or pdf 60kb). 
  
  
• Return your completed application to the Walking Unit and ensure you include all accompanying documentation. The Walking Unit preferred method of receipt of applications is via email.  If you do not have access to an electronic signature for the authorising senior person, the application can be forwarded via email to the Walking Unit by this individual stating their authorisation.  However, if you are unable to submit your application via this manner, faxed and posted applications will be accepted. We would appreciate it if you could submit your application at least 6 weeks before the event as late applications will not be processed within the timeframe of the event.
  
  
• Application received by Walking Unit and receipt acknowledged within 5 working days.
  
  
• Application reviewed and assessed by the Walking Project Officer. In the course of assessing your application you may be contacted for clarification of aspects of your application and event. 
  
  
• A recommendation regarding your application is made to management.
  
  
• You are advised in writing of the outcome of your application. If you have provided all the necessary supporting material with your submission, you will hear whether your application has been successful within 2-6 weeks. However, if your application is complex, does not fit readily into our existing sponsorship guidelines, or has not been completed correctly it may take longer to process.
  
  
• If your sponsorship application is successful, you will need to contact the Walking Unit and make arrangements to collect the sponsorship items.
  
  
• Run your walking event.  Ensure you have considered appropriate risk assessment guidelines.  Please see the checklist (MS Word 290kb or pdf 40kb) to assist you.
  
  
• Return all Walk There Today promotional signage to the Walking Unit within two (2) weeks of the event.
  
  
• Complete an evaluation (MS Word 570kb or pdf 45kb) of the event within two (2) weeks and return to the Walking Unit.

Applications are processed in the order in which they are received. In exceptional cases where an early decision is urgently needed, we will try to respond quickly but we ask that in making an application you plan ahead to allow us time to assess your application.
