A Tourism Transfer licence is for a passenger transfer service (not charter) using a vehicle with fewer than 12 passenger seats and the transport provided is part of a tourism business.  Tourism must be the primary purpose of the business and customer transfer must be necessary for it’s operation. 

Examples include wine, shopping or heritage precinct tours. 

The vehicle could also be used by a company that provides a tourist attraction such as a hot air balloon service to pick-up and drop-off guests. A hotel business may also wish to use this licence to transport their guests to and from the airport.

What criteria needs to be met to gain a tourism transfer licence?

• Vehicles must have fewer than 12 passenger seats and be capable of carrying passengers on tours.
  
  
• Transport can only be provided to/from where necessary (i.e specific pick up/drop off points).
  
  
• Vehicles shall not operate from taxi ranks or be used to ply for hire or tout on roads or other public places.

Information you will need to provide on your application form

• Year, make, model and registration of the vehicle to be licensed
  
  
• Number of passenger seats in the vehicle
  
  
• A brief outline of the services you intend to provide
  
  
• Information regarding your primary tourism business and
  
  
• A Vehicle Maintenance Program and Fatigue Management Program for drivers should be attached.
  
  
• On application the, vehicle should be taken to an Authorised Inspection Station. See the Licensing services website for more information on locations of your nearest station.
