Want to become a MPT driver?

To become a fully accredited multi-purpose taxi (MPT) driver, you must complete the following steps:

  1. Qualify for your T extension to be a taxi driver.

  2. Attend a short introductory session with the MPT Coordinator to find out about the service and whether it will suit you.

  3. Spend 2 days in a MPT with a specially-trained MPT driver/mentor, who will show you what the job involves.

  4. Successfully complete a two-day MPT training course (approved by the Department).

As a MPT driver, you have access to standard taxi fares and group bookings however, your first priority must always be wheelchair work.
