Professional development training has been introduced to keep Perth taxi drivers up to date with customer expectations and changes in the taxi industry.
The training assists all drivers to effectively meet the needs of customers by developing and maintaining the necessary knowledge and skills.
Professional development benefits the entire industry. When customers' needs are met they are likely to continue to use taxis, which means more business for all drivers.
How does it work?
All taxi drivers are required to complete approximately 4 hours of training every 2 years.
Two months before a taxi driver ID card is due to expire, a letter is sent advising of any training requirements. Drivers should then contact one of the approved training providers to enrol for the training course.
Having successfully completed the training, drivers are then able to renew their ID card. A current ID card is mandatory to continue operating a taxi.
