National Rail Safety Bill

Notice of Public Consultation

The Department of Transport of Western Australia has drafted the Rail Safety Bill (2009) in accordance with the National Model Rail Safety Legislation as agreed at the Australian Transport Council and Council of Australian Governments.

In drafting the Western Australian Bill a number of variations were made to the NTC model legislation to enhance rail safety outcomes as well as maintain consistency with existing legislation and Western Australia specific legislative requirements.

Given a number of public consultation sessions on the National Model Rail Safety Legislation have already occurred, interested parties are invited to make submissions focusing on the variations in the draft Bill, in print or electronic formats by 4:00pm (WST) on Friday 19 June 2009.
