Transfers made easy for sellers

It is the purchaser's responsibility to ensure that an approved immobiliser is installed. As a courtesy, please supply any information regarding the immobiliser to the buyer.

1. If you are selling a car you must advise Licensing Services within seven days of the sale by completing the Vehicle Transfer form.

2. Make sure that all details are completed on the form. Both seller and buyer must complete the form.

3. You must forward the green copy (seller's copy) to Licensing Services, and the pink copy (buyer's copy) with current licence papers to the new owner.

4. Within a few days of lodgement Licensing Services will invoice the buyer of the vehicle for the vehicle licence duty and transfer fee.

5. If you wish to retain your custom or personalised plates that are fitted to your vehicle, exchange plates before completing the sale of the vehicle.

6. If you are disposing of a vehicle that is licensed at concession rates, you should advise the new owner of the concession.
