Vehicle safety activities

Standards and regulations

We develop appropriate vehicle standards and regulations in co-operation with the Australian Government, National authorities and other jurisdictions to improve vehicle safety and road transport efficiency.

We help develop regulations on environmental matters relating to vehicle noise, fuels and emissions.

Operational standards

We develop the State's general operational vehicle policy after liaison with Australian Government, National authorities and other jurisdictions, industry groups, and user groups for:

• the proper maintenance of the state vehicle fleet.
  
  
• the assessment of vehicle modifications for safety and compliance.
  
  
• the assessment of specially constructed and individually constructed vehicles.

Education

We produce a range of brochures, bulletins and displays.
