From 1 July 2009, the Department for Planning and Infrastructure became the Department of Planning and the Department of Transport. State Land Services and Pastoral Leases became part of the Department of Regional Development and Lands.

Who uses the Marine Education Boatshed ?

The Marine Education Boatshed and its skilled staff assist schools and education institutions to incorporate marine safety into their curriculum. This facility is managed as a resource centre by qualified educators and provides assistance and support to teachers seeking to become trainers. Groups that are currently utilising the facility include:

 
  • Public schools 

  • Private schools 

  • Department of Transport

  • Yachting Association of Western Australia

  • TAFE

  • Community Groups

  • Universities.

    Teachers and lecturers vary in the way they incorporate the courses into student programs. Courses may be as part of:

     
  • Marine and Maritime Package(2008)
     
  • Marine Science;
     
  • Outdoor Education Course of Study (2008)
     
  • Physical and Health Education;
     
  • Alternative Upper School programs - Fast track;
     
  • Vocational Educational programs;
     
  • Youth at risk programs;
     
  • University Under Graduate Studies;
     
  • University Post Graduate Studies; and
     
  • Primary School Marine Safety Programs
