Bike it to Ballidu

A community relay ride that covers a total of 35kms. Now in its tenth year, teams of four riders commence at Wongan Hills and finish at the Ballidu townsite. There are various categories including veterans, mixed, corporate and primary school children. All teams are timed and awards presented at the end.

Cruisin’ in Kalbarri

A community ride in Kalbarri that commences from the car park at the corner of Grey Street and Clotworthy Street, and finishes at Jacques Point.

Be Active Triathlon

A triathlon run jointly by the Shire of Dowerin and the local Be Active office. It consists of two events – a fun course and a sprint course. The fun course consists of a 200m swim, 6km cycle and 1.5km run. The sprint course consists of a 400m swim, 9km cycle and 3km run. Commencing at the Dowerin swimming complex, the event is open to teams and individuals in different categories.

Katanning Family Bike Ride

A 10km community team-based bike ride organised by the Shire of Katanning that commences and concludes at the Katanning Leisure Centre. The ride is suitable for all ages and there will be on route puzzles to solve. The ride will be followed by a free bbq lunch.

Corrigin Community Bike Ride

A community ride commencing at Rotary Park in Kunjin Street and proceeding along a 5km route to the local swimming pool where a free sausage sizzle will be provided.

Pilbara Ride and Fun Day

A community bicycle ride starting a finishing at Lions Park in Tom Price. Participants will receive some safety tips before the ride and a free healthy breakfast at the conclusion. There will also be games and activities for the children.

Manjimup Cycle for Fun

A family fun day organised by the Shire of Manjimup and the local Rotary Club. The event will be held at Rotary Park in Ipsen Street and will include a free sausage sizzle.

The South Metropolitan Public Health Unit in conjunction with local organisations and bike clubs, is coordinating a range of cycling-related events during Bikeweek. These include a family breakfast and ride, workplace challenge, BMX competition, youth cycling rally and "Have a Try" social events hosted by the Peel BMX Club, Peel District Cycling Club, Mandurah Over 55 Cycle Club and Silver Wheels Cycle Club.

Kununurra Cycle Instead

Each morning interested cyclists met at the Kununurra Leisure Centre. Accompanied by a recreation officer, they rode a different route showcasing the safe and enjoyable cycling facilities in Kununurra. A free healthy breakfast was then provided for the participants after each ride.

Mukinbudin Community Bike-a-thon

A 5km ride along the newly upgraded Botanical Walk/Cycle Trail organised jointly by the Shire of Mukinbudin and the local youth group. The ride will start and finish at the youth centre, with participants receiving a healthy light supper.

Moora Community Bike Ride

A 19km community ride commencing at the Shire of Moora and proceeding to Western Wildflower farm at Coomberdale where a free morning tea will be provided. Riders not wanting cycle back can take a bus.

Carnarvon Town Beach to Jetty Ride

A trail ride headed up by bike leaders that will commence at the Town Beach gazebo, travel through the heritage precinct, and conclude at the jetty. A free healthy breakfast will then be served.

Pintharuka and Back Bike Ride

A 25km community ride organised by the Shire of Morawa commencing from the edge of town then proceeding to the first wheat bin at Pintharuka and returning to town. Following the ride there will be a free healthy brunch and activities for the children including face painting and competitions.

Eaton Foreshore Family Bike Hike

A community bike ride organised by the Shire of Dardanup that commences at Eaton Recreation Centre and concludes at the Eaton foreshore. Upon arrival there will be a free healthy lunch, bike checks and activities with prizes.

Kondinin Bike the Town

A community bike ride organised by the Roe District Be Active Scheme that commences at the town centre and concludes at a local historical site. Upon arrival there will be a free healthy brunch. Participants will have the option of cycling back to town or using a shuttle bus.

Wickepin Bike the Town

A community bike ride organised by the Roe District Be Active Scheme that commences at the town centre and concludes at a local historical site. Upon arrival there will be a free healthy brunch. Participants will have the option of cycling back to town or using a shuttle bus.

Dumbleyung Bike the Town

A community bike ride organised by the Roe District Be Active Scheme that commences at the town centre and concludes at a local historical site. Upon arrival there will be a free healthy brunch. Participants will have the option of cycling back to town or using a shuttle bus.

Everybody Cycle

A 5km community ride to a historical site within the town of Lake Grace. Bicycle safety checks will be conducted prior to the event. Following the ride, a healthy lunch will provided for participants.

The Great Escapade

Saturday 28 March to Sunday 5 April 2009

A multi-day ride that uses a picturesque 537km loop route through the south-west of the State, commencing and finishing in Margaret River. Over 3000 riders are expected to complete part or all of the ride, and they will be fully supported by about 300 volunteers.

Victoria Plains Community Bike Ride

A 20km community ride commencing at the Recreation Centre and proceeding along New Norcia Road, where refreshments will be provided before returning to the Recreation Centre.

Brookton Triathlon

An inaugural triathlon organised by the Shire of Brookton commencing at the aquatic centre. The event is open to all competitors and will include swim, cycle and run legs.

Kulin Community Bike Ride

A 15km community bike ride organised by the Shire of Kulin that commences at Jilakin Rock turnoff and concludes at the local swimming pool. The ride is suitable for all ages and will be followed by a free sausage sizzle. All participants will receive a raffle ticket and will have the option of a using a shuttle bus back to town.

Kellerberrin Cycle for Health

A community ride organised by the Shire of Kellerberrin. The ride starts and finishes at Centenary Park. A free community lunch will be held following the ride. Along with the sausage sizzle, there will be giveaways to entice novice riders.

Geraldton Family Fun Ride

This is a social ride organised by the Midwest section of the WA Country Health Service and associated partners. The event will be held in Geraldton, it is open to all residents and has a choice of a 2km or 4km route. A free, light lunch will be held following the ride.

Twilight to Town Community Bike Ride

A 10km community ride organised by the Shire of Esperance to celebrate the opening of the final section of the Twilight Beach / Great Ocean Drive shared path. The ride commences at Twilight Beach and concludes in the centre of town. A children’s triathlon will be held at Twilight Beach prior to the start of the community ride.

Denmark Great Family Bike Ride

A 6km family-orientated ride and scavenger hunt being organised by the Shire of Denmark. Commences at the recreation centre, the route proceeds down the Mokare Heritage Trail, taking in some wonderful views along the shoreline of Wilson Inlet. Riders conclude their journey in the townsite and can enjoy a free sausage sizzle.

Dalwallinu Community Ride

A 10km community ride organised by the WA Country Health Service – Western Wheatbelt. The ride commences and finishes at the Dalwallinu Memorial Park where participants will receive a free healthy brunch and refreshments. Spot prizes will also be given out

Turquoise Way Community Ride

A 15km community ride organised by the WA Country Health Service – Western Wheatbelt along the Turquoise Bay Walk Trail. The ride commences and finishes at Dobbyn Park in Jurien Bay where participants will receive a free healthy brunch and refreshments. Spot prizes will also be given out.

Gibb River Road Challenge

The third annual Challenge involves teams of riders attempting to complete an 800km route along the Gibb River Road through the rugged Kimberley region. The ride commences in Derby and concludes in Kununurra. Proceeds from the event do to help Police Legacy and other charities.
